So my friend's rig with an i5 6600 just bent the cpu. Yeah the cpu was bent caused by a retention arm putting too much pressure on the cpu, bending it a lot. Surprisingly the CPU still works, however some contacts are definitely not touching, and one of the ram channels is broken. any advice?

just curious, how would the retention arm bend the cpu? the retention arm secures the metal bracket which pushes the cpu against a flat surface, so idk how it's possible to bend the cpu that way.

the retention bracket was pushing down so hard that it pushed the pcb down in the middle of the edge, while the corners stayed in the same spot and thus the PCB bent

There is nothing that you can do about it that won't have the risk of bricking the cpu. skylake's pcb is thinner than haswell, and previous generations, and there have been reports of them bending when moving the system when you have an aftermarket cooler on. If you want to take the risk, you could take two pliars and bend it back, but i would highly NOT recommend it.

yeah. but the crap thing is it has the stock cooler, plus it was cheaply not caused by the stock cooler
