On July 9th I upgraded my PC and got an MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition, the next day I went to Windows 10 and have been having problems since. First of all, games have been crashing at random times with GTA V being the worst. Lighterweight games like CSGO and TF2 have never crashed yet games like Just Cause 3 and Amra 3 have only crashed once each which is fine. The biggest issue though is shadowplay. Nvidia shadowplay is often buggy with recordings in the beginning have artifacts such as

this recording of just cause 3 :

this recording is SO BAD, it's not even usable. This happens in any game, even on the desktop and as far as I know only happens while recording in 2160p60, since on Windows 7 I recorded csgo at 1080p and the recording was just fine, I'm unsure at this point if the shadowplay issues have more to do with Windows 10 or recording at 4K. Even so, I should be able to capture games at 4K.

My System has a Intel Core i7 4790k @4.5ghz Cooled by A Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO With a MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition and 16GB of Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz Memory.

I'm not sure that would really help considering I used 368.69 at first and after a complete DDU wipe of my graphics drivers with a brand new installation of 368.81, the issues still persist.

Use .39 only downside is if you use VR your card won't boost, but it's stable. Best driver in 3 months.

Gonna try this, I'll report back. Thanks!

Shadowplay appears to be working great now but GTA V is still crashing. Could it be the game?

GTA V is a poorly optimised game that is very prone to crashing. Given how many crashes I've had with GTA V (it now crashes on launch for me despite my system obliterating the requirements) I would warm towards blaming the game rather than the card. But then, I don't know much about the 1080 - maybe there are issues I'm unaware of.

GTA V is very well optimized, there are a few bugs but the engine itself is damn near flawless

Don't know, unfortunately I don't have GTA V so don't have any experience with it. Could be I suppose.

another update, shadowplay actually doesn't work since after recording some videos in ARMA 3, some of the files are artifacting so in reality the driver downgrade made no difference

Are you recording to a separate HDD for those 4K recordings because those must be HUGE.

https://gyazo.com/c3cae05575a28d892fe85f6418b631f9

My drive config, 120gb SSD C:\, E:\ is a partion of a 4TB drive which is where all my personal files go (including shadowplay), Games 2 (F:\) is well games and is the second partition of the 4TB and then the 3TB G:\ is my original game drive. Also in terms of filesize, 4K is fine as long as you aren't recording long periods of time, for example, I recorded 1:30:00 of GTA V footage which ended up being 70GB though 5 minute recordings are too bad, with 1080p60 being about 800-1.5GB and 4K60 being 2-2.5GB in size.

sorry for sloppy replies its 4am and im really tired goodnight eveyone

Well when it runs well then sure, it usually runs smoothly and has reasonable scalabillity. But the fact is there are still tons of issues that Rockstar has never ironed out, and for a lot of people they will get regular crashes. I have played the game on several systems and crashes all the time. Just go on the steam forum if think it's a "well optimised game".

Thank you, consider yourself hugged. Wish more people for this.

Sorry OP, if you have the time it might be worth it to try a clean install of Windows. Tons of guides out there, sorry .39 didn't work. Go to driver for Maxwell but if it's not anything else might not be the same for Pascal. Hopefully it get ironed out quickly for you.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Nope, if a 750 Ti can run the game at 1080p medium settings I'd say it's well optimized, you just have to fix your setup

I'm the only person in my group that doesn't own GTA V and no one has any issues. Most have a 970 so not sure it would be the driver unless the issue is Pascal specific.

Maybe pull a Dimm? See what happens and if nothing switch it? Might be memory related.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Honestly - only Maxwell drivers are sort of stable at the moment. Kepler users are having headaches and Pascal users are having issues as well.
