Are you willing to switch platforms entirely, or would you rather stay with your current platform?

Do you mean switching my MB and everything? I was trying to avoid it but it has crossed my mind.

You are better off switching to an Intel based platform quite frankly.

I was trying to avoid switching MB's. I heard it screws with Windows 10 because the product code is in the bios.

The product code is not in the BIOS. In the case of Windows 10, Microsoft stores the information on its servers.

So if I do switch MB's I won't have an issue starting my computer?

You may need to call Microsoft to get things switched around.

That's not too difficult, right?

I've never done it with Windows 10, but I've done it with Windows 7 and it wasn't particularly difficult.

Ok, that's relieving. thanks. If I have to switch platforms, what should I switch to exactly?

At this point, a Skylake mainstream based system will do you just fine. But you may need to switch to DDR4 for RAM.

So that's another $30-$50...

Some motherboards support the use of normal DDR3 memory, but Intel warns against it as it can degrade the memory controller faster due to voltage.

What kind?

Depends on your budget. Switching to skylake or any modern i5 will cost you well over 200$
