Best AM3/AM3+ CPU?

Currently, I have the AMD FX 6300. I need a more powerful cpu. What is the best option? (please leave OCing out of this, I have OCed my 6300 as much as I can with my current CPU cooler)

Do you mean switching my MB and everything? I was trying to avoid it but it has crossed my mind.

You are better off switching to an Intel based platform quite frankly.

I was trying to avoid switching MB's. I heard it screws with Windows 10 because the product code is in the bios.

The product code is not in the BIOS. In the case of Windows 10, Microsoft stores the information on its servers.

At this point, a Skylake mainstream based system will do you just fine. But you may need to switch to DDR4 for RAM.

Some motherboards support the use of normal DDR3 memory, but Intel warns against it as it can degrade the memory controller faster due to voltage.

So I can use DDR3 in a DDR4 MB, but it is not recommended at all.

Depends on your budget. Switching to skylake or any modern i5 will cost you well over 200$
