should i upgrade

i have a gigabyte r9 290 with Accelero Hybrid III-140 my question is should i upgrade now that even an 1060 is faster than my gpu?

CPU:Intel I5 6700k (4.7GHz)  Mobo:Asus maximus viii hero RAM:HyperX 16GB  GPU:MSI gtx1080 Gaming X

I'm fairly certain with a decent overclock a 290 can come quite close to the 1060 in DX12/Vulkan benches/games.

I wouldn't. Unless you want to play on a 1440p ultra wide (for which a 1070 would do great) then you're better off waiting at least one more gen.
