uhhh it can be hard to learn recoil and spray patterns but there are a lot of workshop mods that you can download to help you with that in offline with bots. Also don't get to angry if you can't get a kill at first. It can be somewhat hard to get used to since it doesn't really play like any other FPS game that's out. Also hackers are going to be in casual/deathmatch games no matter what. There's no way to avoid them in those. Prime Matchmaking for Competitive does eliminate some of them though from the comp side of things.

I got it during the steam summer sale and ive gotten about 3 hours on it. The game is rather entertaining but the community is... difficult in more than small doses. Imagine xbox live intensified. Mute is your friend in this game.

It really can be a good game if you land in a good match.

  • Watch pro games. Download the app 'the score - eSports' to get times, scores, stats and links to streams. It can really help you understand the game on a deeper level.
  • Practice. Don't just play casual and death match until you can play comp. And then just play that. Play a ton of deathmatch, retake and arms race to improve your aim, game sense and confidence with guns. For retake you will need to look on the community servers. Just search '128 tick retake'. For deathmatch type '128tick deathmatch ffa'. Just use the valve arms race mode on their own servers.
  • Utilise the workshop. There are great training and recoil maps that a a world of help when it comes to mastering the basics of the game.
  • Learn maps. The easiest is de_dust2 and should be the first one you learn to play competitively however do learn the other maps in the active duty map pool as well as inferno.
  • Skins don't equal wins. Nuff said...
  • Don't be toxic. Be friendly and helpful and play to the best of your ability and you will be added by people on comp. Play with them
  • Don't get too bogged down in your rank. Play your best and you will get to the skill level you deserve.
  • Be aware that there are better alternatives to matchmaking like faceit which, imo, are much better.
  • Bind the basic keys to ones that you are comfortable with. And please turn off weapon switching with the scroll wheel. It's a bad habit and I'm still trying to recover from it.
  • Settings are important. Turn off v sync and try other resolutions other than your native res on your monitor. I like 1440x1080 4:3 with black bars for example.
  • Get a big mouse pad. I would start with 400dpi with a in game sensitivity of 3.5 (raw input on) and then lower it and lower it until you feel comfortable and you get better. I use 1.95 sens at 400dpi
  • get some nice peripherals. Nothing fancy but just make sure you have a nice pad, a decent wired mouse and a monitor that is under 4ms respondpse time and at least 60z. Nice heAdphones are also nessisary. Also get a mic please. You NEED one.
  • watch videos. Live streams and instructional videos are very helpful, I find C9's N0thing and Shrouds streams to be good and theWarOwl to be the best instructional YouTuber. Hattongames also does comp games that are tpgood to watch and learn off.

I know this was a lot of text and a lot of info but I hope I helped :)

Any more questions? I'd be happy to answer them xD

edit: spelling mistakes

note: also learn the financial side of things. And as a general rule stay away from the m429, Negev, sawn off, r8 revolver and dual beretras. Also the 'dac' which is the auto sniper. It is a situational weapon. It's good but don't use it in deathmatch because it's a tad overpowered and you'll kinda be a dick and don't buy it in comp much became it is very expensive and will wreck you economy.

I would say just put up with the idiots and add the people who are helpful and nice. Eventually you will have a decent amount of people you can lobby up with.  After 650 hours I have quite a few. Also the people in faceit are less toxic from personal experience. Don't mute. It can lose you the match even if people are being toxic.
