NEW BUILDER - I'm a little confused about my case's fan connection.

steVENOM

So I connected the SATA to my PSU, what is step 2 referring to?? I took a picture of each cable that emerges from the front of the chassis.

The picture is misleading. the 3/4 pin connector is the 4 pins sticking up on your motherboard. 3 slot fans can go into 4 pins, the other pin is for PWM.

Second Picture: Fan connections (it looks like you have a built in fan hub?)

Third Picture: USB 3.0 header, should be blue on your motherboard

Fourth Picture: Front panel Audio (typically located around the bottom edge of your motherboard)

Fifth Picture: Power/Reset/HDD indicator led (dependent on mobo consult owners manual)

to be honest with you, some manuals are hilareously horrible.

watching a few build guides (from vareous sources, seeing some different approaches may be helpful) will help you out much more usually.

Your case has a built-in fan controller. The steps in that part of the manual are asking you to connect the fan controller to SATA power, and then to plug the case fan header into one of the fan headers on your mother board (one of the CHA_FAN) headers, then plug your fans into the connections on the fan controller.

Doing all these steps enable you to use a button on your case to control fan speed.

You could also check out some youtube build logs with your case to see how they set it up :)

There is usually a set of pins (idk how many but I think it's around 20?) around the bottom edge of the motherboard

Ok so I've got AAFP (is that my HD audio one? Because it fits but I can't seem to get it on without being crooked), COM, TPM, and some USB slots, which one uses what?

Mobo manual tells you all that. USB is for case USB2 ports. COM and TPM you don't need to worry. You'll get to know them better if you ever need them.

Front panel cables go to far right pins, again manual tells which cable goes where. For the rest I'd need to check manual and I can't do it now.
