GTX 1070 STRIX OC vs GTX 1070 FTW

ConiferousJelly

The time has finally come...

I am about to order the GPU for my next computer build, I have decided on the GTX 1070, and have narrowed down my search to the Asus GTX 1070 Strix OC and EVGA GTX 1070 FTW due to me wanting the best 1070 since I want it to last me.

There are some factors to include however:

-I can order the Strix TODAY and have it delivered in 2-3 days, whereas the FTW I would have to wait for it to comeback in stock

-I can get the Strix for $449 instead of $459 for the FTW

-They both look fine to me aesthetically, I read another thread asking about these cards and there seemed to be a fanboy war over aesthetics, So I am not concerned about that.

In that other thread, there was mentioning about Asus being worse than EVGA, should I be concerned that much about Asus to make me wait to get my hands on the EVGA model? I also like that the strix has 2 HDMI ports over 3 DP ports, should I give up that for the EVGA model and why?

EVGA over Asus everytime, better warranty and customer support, usually better OC and i prefer the cleaner looks.

EVGA

but.. I like my gigabyte g1 1070 a lot

I've looked at the G1s and haven't really liked the look of them, also don't like that it is more than a 2 slot card, even though I like the idea of putting one fan under the others

But does it make it worth it to wait, lose the extra HDMI port in lieu of DP I won't use, and paying extra?

ASUS isn't a bad option, but for longevity you're not going to get any better than an EVGA.

In my eyes it does. That will depend on you my friend and your preferences. :)

Yeah, was just making sure that I'm not making an awful decision to go with ASUS, from what I am told while EVGA IS better, I won't have that bad of issues with ASUS either :)

I'm sure ill upgrade it within a year or two... just worried that I am not making a terribly bad decison

Oh man is it hard to decide between these two cards. Both are in stock and at same price in Canada.

Love the 2 HDMI and 2 fan headers on the Strix but EVGA is usually my go to brand. I think a lot of people are going to have a hard time deciding between these two cards.

Has anyone seen temp and noise comparisons between the two? I assume they are very similar.

Yeah, IMO the strix just offers more... The EVGA card is pretty sweet but it lacks anything new but a new cooler, while the strix brings the onboard fan headers and of course the 2 HDMI ports.
