No internet on Intel NUC

Greetings.

 

I just setup my new NUC 6i3SYK, installed windows 8.1 on it, all good up to now, then plugged in the ethernet cable to the rj45 slot but it shows no connections available and doesn't connect to the internet automatically like my previous desktop windows 7 did. Am I doing something wrong? 

 

the rj45 slot is lit green when the cable is plugged in, and so is the corresponding slot on the router

Seek and you shall find.
