Feedback on media server build

So, the purpose of this build is simply for watching movies, tv shows, anime, etc.. powered by Plex on Windows 7 (probably, haven't decided what OS to run Plex on yet). I didn't go with a graphics card because I don't think I need one for just movie watching and whatnot since both the CPU and motherboard have onboard graphics with an HDMI output but if you guys think it's going to be necessary I can swing for a budget GPU to get what I want done.

that hyper212 is probably gonna be a bit overkill to go on an i3.

 

beyond that, do you *really* need 10TB worth of storage for your media library?

(if you intend to do raid, i'd suggest either a raid card, or a different solution all together)

Use XBMC then put plex on it

Just keeping this here as a (if you intend to do raid, i'd suggest either a raid card, or a different solution all together)

It might be an overkill air-cooler but I don't mind spending the $20-30 to keep it cool. As for the storage, I've got several hundred movies in mind that will be AT LEAST in 1080p. It's going to build up quickly and I don't want to have to worry about losing storage. And it's not a big deal to spend that much on storage either.

i like XBMC for accessing local / local network content, i stopped using it because it's very limited for accessing youtube and twitch, and updates can be very problematic at times...

 

as for plex... well.. my router really dislikes plex. this is a known problem, but finding the actual fix seems more complex.

 

some routers just really, REALLY dislike plex.
