Check the cables to the speakers to see if they are the right ones to connect to your audio (I think some might need some sort of adapter). I don't see why it wouldn't be able to connect to your PC, I'd suggest trying It, before you go for a new pair of speakers, It would save you the money. If they don't work, I'd say going for a pair Logitech speakers, they have good reviews, and they don't cost much.

Look at all the cables if they're the right ones and can work with your PC, otherwise i'd recommend a pair of logitech Z623 speakers, got them like a week ago and best speakers i've had in a while :D

first off to the other guys Logitech speakers are completely utter shit. You will most likely need a receiver to be able to use those speakers, but I have no idea if they are worth it, what would your budget be for new speakers?

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

You need a 5.1 receiver

You will have to go used to get one

Here is a good one I found

Receiver is an amp, usually with 5.1 or more channels, and usual has an integrated DAC for HDMI or optical

NO!

There is a pinned post about DAC and amps, you could give that a read.

Where do you want there to be more focus in the music? What is the budget? Where are you going to use them? Open or Closed?

the m50x is overrated and not a very good value at 150$, they have no soundstage and the comfort is bad.
