So I found a customer returned asus z170-a board for $30 shipped on ebay. would you go for it, and why?

its a gamble, probs returned cos they don't work...

 

EDIT: well you could try and RMA it?

Its 30 bucks and i'll mostly have a unlocked chip with Intel Oc protection plan were they give you a new cpu if it dies. If anything happens you can pretend it got fried and get a new chip and just buy a new board

If it's that exact board that TrigrH linked to: DO NOT TAKE IT. 
Look at the second picture, and all the bent pins just below the centre of the socket. Somebody thumbed all those pins, that board is a cupholder at best.

It's your money, but I think you have a better shot at getting a good one if you go to the casino, put it all on red twice, and then buy a $120 board. 25% seems like an improvement over the odds with that seller

You could probably find discarded mobos for wall art purposes just by dumpster diving behind any office complex

 

I wouldn't buy it with any kind of expectation of it working. No one who knows what they've got is going to sell a working Z170-A for $30, even one that they think might be salvageable. If you consider it wall art, sure, but I've got some wonderful pictures of atmospheric phenomena for sale that I'd rather you consider instead

The whole listing screams, "I know these boards do not work, but I need to get rid of them somehow." If the one they're using in the listing photo has roughly 1/8th of its pins obviously bent beyond repair, what kind of condition do you think the other boards are in? If you want wall art, you want wall art, but if you want a working board, there are much smarter ways to go about it.
