How to OC Core Voltage on 1070 FE?

I've been running into issues with my i5/1070 rig concerning that games are crashing after 30 min of run time regardless of what graphics settings are set, so someone here recommended that I increase my Core Voltage in Msi Afterburner, only problem is that the program won't let me adjust the slider even after going into the settings to enable it and restarting both the app and my computer, tried it out with EVGA Precision and same results there, neither of which will let me adjust the Core Voltage regardless of what I do.

I read up on it and apparently Nvidia locked the Core Voltage for some reason and this is really disappointing as I can't enjoy any game for no more than 30 min until it crashes, pretty much making gaming for me just not worth it anymore unless I can somehow fix this problem.

So my question is, is it possible to adjust the Core Voltage on my 1070 FE, and if it's locked is there a way to unlock it?

if its crashing, just back your OC off by 15mhz each time until its stable.
