14-15 inch ultrabook

I am looking for a cheap (can be refurbished or even used)

  • 14-15 inch ultrabook
  • at around 2kg
  • descent battery life
  • 1080-1440p preferably touchsecreen
  • i7, preferably quad core

It doesn't need to be skylake or even a 2016 model, any late 2014-2015 model will do, with a 4th gen i7.

Discrete GPU is nice to have but really unnecessary.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Best I've found to date is the i7 hp envy touchsmart at 350GBP from ebay, but 2 of my friends have the 17 inch model and their battery has deteriorated to 1-1.30 hour over 1 1.5 years. (The 15 inch is also heavier than i'd prefer).

Basically Im looking for an xps 15 - the nvme ssd and 4k screen at less than half the price ;P

Any suggestions?

Was gonna say XPS 15 until I saw this :(

Razer Blade? Although it's not classified as an ultrabook, and may still be rather expensive, has no touchscreen but seems to have fairly good battery life.

I do agree though, XPS 15 is basically the perfect machine but for a big price tag...

CPU: I7 4790K(4.6@1.252v)                               Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Windowed(Black)           Cooler: CM 212 EVO + NF F12 iPPC

RAM: HyperX Fury 1600MHZ CL10 2x4GB      Storage: Samsung 850 EVO(250GB) + WD Red(2TB)      PSU: Corsair RM750 (and no, it hasn't blown up!)

MoBo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger                      Graphics: MSI GTX 970 TwinFrozr (1494MHZ Core)       OS: Windows 10 Enterprise

The blade is more expensive than the xps 15, even when used in ebay, you could actually get a new unopened xps 15 for the same or less money than the blade from what I've seen to date.

The problem with them is, you dont get the option for a full hd touchscreen and an ssd downgrade without downgrading the memory as well.

An xps 15, with the 6700hq, 16gb ram, 256gb nvme ssd and 1080p touchscreen without dedicated graphics would make much more sense and could cost less than £1000! (Goodbye apple!)
