hello! i'm building a system, and i'm wondering if a 300w Silverstone SFX 80+ Bronze unit will be enough to power and slightly overclock a system with these specs:

i7 6700k cpu

RX 480 gpu

Asus Z170i ITX mb

8gb 2800mhz ddr4

240gb OCZ sata III ssd

1tb WD hdd

all inside a Define Nano S case with whatever fans come with it plus maybe a couple more of my own.

i know that there are recommended minimums, but they are really conservative.

y[e]  |  I am king giraffe. Hail me.  |  I build computers as a hobby and sometimes resell them to make a profit. | Current rig's specs:

OS: Win10 Pro x64 | CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X | GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900XT | MB: ASUS X570 Tuff | RAM: 32gb G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600mhz | Bootup: Adata 1tb NVME Gen4 | SSD: Intel SSD6 P600 1tb | HDDs: 16tb total | PSU: Seasonic 1200w 80+ Gold | Cooling: Noctua NH-D15 | Case: Voodoo Omen R (yes, THAT Voodoo) | Screen: Acer XF270HU 1440p 144hz FreeSync | total spent: $too much | (lol empty space)

It would run it, but only just. It's probably fine to run non-OC for a while until you get a better power supply

I'm more concerned about the quality of the Silverstone unit than its actual rated wattage, but you will be fine running it OC'd on 450W.

Of course all the people who shout NO didn't actually look at actual power consumption :P (I do have to say, it's always good to have a surplus of rated power on your power supply)

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

It is but don't overclock and just return the unit anyways and get a Corsair SF600.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Even the SF450 is perfectly fine and the 600 Watter doesn't actually have more PCI-E connectors even though it could

Do keep in mind that they don't come with an adapter bracket for mounting on a traditional case

i just looked it up. it can hold a 160mm atx unit. should've looked at that beforehand i guess.

Then it's CX450M for you :)

Or get a 650 if you can afford it to keep the option of crosssfire open

it's an itx system. so unless i want to step it up to a radeon pro duo, crossfire isn't an option.
