Your windows 8 key has been transferred to a windows 10 key when you upgraded.

And you can only have that key active on one PC at a time.

So I've been looking around some old files, and I found that before I upgraded to windows 10 from 8, I wrote down my windows 8 activation code. (For whatever reason.) If I were to install a windows 7 disk onto my pc, and use the windows 8 key, would it work? The windows 8 key isn't the same as my current windows 10 key, if that helps at all.

Nothing.

You need a Windows 7 key for Windows 7 to activate. You can use 7/8 keys to activate 10 though.
