Hi guys, I want to upgrade my cousins Computer, he is like 12 years old, and he likes to play just eSports games (so, that needs just a simple computer)

He has right now:

Asus P5LD2-X/1333, GeForce 8400 GS, E2160 @ 1,8Ghz, 2GB DDR2.

My idea is to give him HD 6570 or HD 5670 (either I can get for less) , E5400, and 4GB of DDR2.

Is a good idea for the price range? Or do you habe a better one? Thanks ;)

Spoiler

Main PC: CPU Xeon E3-1231 V3 - MB Asrock B85M Pro3 - RAM 16GB Kingston - GPU GTX 1070 Gainward Phoenix - PSU Corsair AX760i - Monitor  LG 22EA63 - Keyboard Corsair Strafe - Mouse Logitech G402 - Storage 2x3TB WD Green - 240GB OCZ SSD

By esports games do you mean cs go and League of legends? If so your upgrades are a good idea. Small problem. The motherboard he has is very very old. So old that it doesn't even support any core 2 quads actually (let alone their corresponding xeon processors). It only supports up to 65nm dual cores so thats a problem.

Yes, CS Go, Dota, etc, I know, thats why I am thinking about the dual core E5400 ;)

Ohhh I see I thought you mean the higher end e5450,5440s etc. In that case that might work. Honestly Instead I would get a cheap core 2 duo instead such as an e6850. They are basically as cheap as the e5400 and you don't have to do any modding to the cpu or the motherboard. Basically it'll work out of the box and you would have peace of mind.
edit : I thought you were talking about xeon processors when in reality you were talking about the pentium e5400, again my bad. Just get a core 2 duo as they can be found very cheap on ebay (10$).

make sure the motherboard will support the new processor.

if its just a faster core2duo series your probably  fine i would just double check

you might need to do a major upgrade before you can pass him a new GPU

GS:Go should still run on a dual core but these days

a Core 2 Quad is the suggested CPU to run Windows and games

4GB is the absolute minimum to get

If you are resourceful,

you should be able to get mobos which support DDR3 over DDR2

take for example my Q6600 was paired with a Gigabyte G41 combo mobo which supports either DDR2 or DDR3

so i ripped out 2GB sticks DD3 RAM from old HP machines and ran two of them for 4GB of RAM

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Thanks, but he really just play light games, CS GO, Dota, SC II at lowest configs, dual core will do fine for now, maybe later I get him a quad.

yes upgrading to a quad is always a great upgrade

the Q6600 are dirt cheap quad core you can find on ebay

and they can work on slightly newer boards without much tinkering

for my case

because my RAM were DDR3 1333MHz

the FSB on my CPU was auto OC from 1066 to 1333 and i got instant 3GHz OC without me touching any settings
