I have the xfx 390x dd and I have absolutely no issues with the card besides the fact that the new version of the card has new inductors and the 290x waterblock that I had wont fit on it. Besides that I have a triple monitor setup and it runs it like a champ!

your choice but i would limit it to the 1070 and rx 480. if you feel like you need more power than the 1070 if you want to save some money then 480

His CPU will bottleneck the 1070.

Yes there are. i7s are 20-40% more powerful than i5s. You can easily see that when you use high-end GPUs

Easy - i5s are not universally potent. They have their limits and shouldn't be as overhyped as they are.

but in games are single threaded and doesnt take advantage of all the cores so if the i5 and i7 are the same clock speed they should have similar performance. also its not considered a bottleneck until the gpu cant run at near 100% utilization

That is bullshit and you know it. That was the case in 2012. Now games are using 16 threads or more. Just take a look at the recent port reports on TB's channel - he has Afterburner open in some of them. All 16 threads on his 5960X have load on them. IPC is meaningless nowadays.

they use it but not particularly well if you disable 4 of the threads on the i7 there will be virtually no difference. also once again this has nothing to do with bottlenecks

There are only 2 games on this list where it's a significant bottleneck. To tell someone not to get a 1070 with a 6600k because of 2 games is asinine. @Ruwan969get a 1070.

Yes there will be. HT results in each core working 20-40% more efficiently and thus feeding the card better.

Those are just 2 out of 6. There are dozens more like that. TW: Warhammer, Ashes, The Division and many more .The future is multi-core. Single-core games belong to the past. With DX12 even more so.

and plus i dont think its because the gpu is being bottlenecked its just that the cpu can perform better on the cpu side of the games

That is the very definition of bottleneck....
