Pretty good.

You MAY want to wait on some bench marks on the 1060, or the 1070 to be in stock. It would be better than the 970

Change 970 for 480/1060/980/980ti. or maybe even something like 390.

Is the 970 a bad choice is it because of the VRAM issues? I got it for just over $250 so it's not a huge investment and im willing to upgrade in the near future. I was hoping to hold off on the 1060/1070 until they are actually available and not on back-order I also haven't seen much in the way of reviews for them yet either.

I would get a lesser board (the M3 off instance) and a lesser wattage PSU (550-650W would be plenty) to get a 1070.

The PSU is overkill for Skylake i5 and a 970

I'd recommend dropping to a 750w or even 650w and using the extra monies for a better GPU.

CPU - i7 6800k @ 4.2Ghz

Mobo - Asus X99-A-II

Ram - Corsair Vengeance LPX White 32GB @ 3200Mhz

GPU - MSI GTX 1080ti Lightning X @ 2063/12528

Storage - Samsung SM961 256GB, Samsung 840 Pro 250GB & Sandisk Ultra II 256GB

Cooling - Corsair H110i (2x ML140 White LED)

PSU - RM850x

Case - Anidees Ai Crystal

Monitor - Acer XB270HU bprz @ 1440p / 144hz IPS

Sound - FiiO E10K & AKG K712 PROs

Peripherals - Razer Blackwidow TE & Corsiar Scimitar

If you're just gaming, then simply go for the i5-6500, and an H110 motherboard. You can skip the AiO cooler this way.

Get an RX 480. No point in getting an outdated GPU now. If it's not available, then get an R9 390.

You already bought RAM, so can't do much now.

The PSU, although good, is way too much for your build. 500-600W is more than enough.

Use iGPU and wait for them to come in stock or try looking for 980ti for cheap. No point in 970 atm, even if it will suffice for now. Also yeah psu is too high for no reason 650/750w will do fine

Okay so I think i'll switch to a 750w psu the evga supernova GQ as it's on sale for $100 here. My only concern GPU wise is if i wait for a 1060/1070 that integrated graphics won't work very well with most games. I am also going to be doing some video editing so that was my main reasoning behind just going for the 6600k

If you got it already, then just use it. It's a great GPU all things considered.

Don't upgrade in the "near future". You shouldn't have that sort of mentality when building a computer. The best time to upgrade is when your current system is no longer enough for playable frame rates.

Yeah i'v purchased pretty much everything except the PSU and any HDD's for storage but other than the case and ram everything was purchased from a local store and is unopened so i can always exchange/return if I find out there is a better option to go with.

Excellent PSU choice, for $100 that can't be beat - even if its still a bit overkill.

could I ask why? for air coolers I wouldn't be saving a lot making the switch and noise isn't a huge concern as I will have built in fan controllers with the case that planning to use with it and it would provide a better cooling solution if i decide to try out overclocking in the future (as far as I'm aware which isn't saying much).
