So i have this old 1.2 tb hard drive that has some bad sectors, and it only has around 200 gb used with over 80% of it free. I just got my hands on a new WD 1tb Blue, and i was wondering if i could used Colnezilla to copy it into the newer drive. I hoped it would work since the old one only has 200ish Gb of used storage but since its a 1.2 tb HDD I do not know if the cloning process will work on a 1tb HDD, and yes the old 1.2HDD is the boot drive that is why i wan to clone it. Also if you guys know any better programs then Clonezilla please let me know.

Thanks

It will work but I recommend Macrium Reflect. When you open the program, select the 1.2TB disk and reduced the size as much as you can. After that, start the cloning. Once done with the clone and swap, go to disk management and increase the size of the simple volume to max.

You should not clone a drive, especially if it has bad sectors and parts of your OS are possibly corrupted.

Do a clean install, it's not that hard.

I used CloneZilla to clone my 300gb drive to my 512gb SSD. It works just fine and it was really easy.
