USB 3.0 Question

If the device needs additional power, it will usually plug into the wall. If not, all power comes from the bus itself, which comes from the 20/24 pin motherboard plug.

There's a reason why I haven't heard of it. It's an absolutely terrible power supply, and it's probably the only one that has it.

So while it proves that power supplies can have the feature, it doesn't prove what you originally said, which is that both power supplies and motherboards have the feature. Only one unit so far was shown to have it, and it was a terrible unit that I would not put in my build.
