After many hours of searching, I have finally decided to purchase the Phanteks p400s.

I decided that it would be cool to take advantage of the built in RGB controller, but was disappointed when I saw that Phanteks' LED strip was a whopping $25.

I was wondering if I could just and random strip... like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPERNIGHT-RGB-5050-SMD-5M-16-4ft-Waterproof-300-LED-Flexible-Light-Strip-Lamp-/181249445476?hash=item2a334f0e64:m:mPdCu8uVSCZfyuOKMIvMFQA.

Would something like that work, or does Phanteks use some weird proprietary connector? Thanks!

Desktop Build:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 | MSI b350m Mortar Arctic | 16GB DDR4 Kingston HyperX Fury | Fractal Design Define Mini C TG | 240GB Sandisk SSD Plus

Home Server Build:

Intel Core i3-6100 | ASRock Pro 4s | 16GB DDR4 Kingston HyperX Fury | Corsair 500r

1st off the store you are buying the Phanteks 1st Party LED Strips is ripping you off, they should cost around $15 USD for a meter or about $18 for 2 meters.

Phanteks AFAIK has a 4 pin connector. Red, Blue, Green and Ground or something like that.

They use SMD 5050 LED's so it would work however they do use a different type of 4 pin connector so you may need to do some modification ro amke an adapter, just note that while that roll is 5M long don't try to power it with the on board controller as it may not be able to handle all of that.

Another option would also be AddonCustoms as they have lights for Phanteks cases now:

I'd cut it way down, just seems to be a really good deal.

What kind of modding are we talking about? Is it the "Cut some plastic and add some tape" kind of modding or the "Soldering connection bridges" kind of modding? :)

Also, sorry if I posted in the wrong section.

Where can you get them at that price? They are about $30 on both Amazon and NCIX, and about $25 on Newegg.

It would require some crimping of some connections or cutting and soldering depending which method you go but as long as you have the wiring configured properly it shouldn't have any problems.

In Australia you can get

1 meter for $22 so, 22/1.1 = 20 AUD.         20 * 0.76 = $15.2 USD

2 meter for $25 so, 25/1.1 = 22.73 AUD     22.73 * 0.76 = $17.27 USD

(Removing 10% GST)             (Converting to USD)
