Some issues regarding my desktop icons

I have a couple minor issues regarding my desktop, and maybe you can help me with those.

The first one are my destop icons restting and being lined up randomly at the left side (presumably after a game changes graphic settings?). Is there a way to stop this?

Secondly: I have a weird bug where the bottom icon row is not entirely usable. (Some) Icons will go in the left and rightmost position and into some in the middle of the screen, but every other position will stay blank, where as some icons will not go into the bottom row at all. Does anybody know what could cause that?

The last one is the horizontal icon spacing. The vertical spacing is fine should I find a solution to problem number two, but horizontally there is about half an icon of space left. I therefore wanted to change the icon spacing so that I can either put a full icon there or increase teh distance to have the same amount of icons as I do now but with the last one being at the edge of the screen. I found the folder with the IconSpacing/VerticalIconSpacing values in regedit and tried changing them, but nothing seemes to change, no matter which value I chose. Did I miss something?

Thank you for your answers.

What OS are you using?

Make sure that "Auto-arrange icons" is turned off. (http://www.winability.com/how-to-i-stop-windows-from-rearranging-my-desktop-icons/)

I'm not sure about the spacing of your icons, but they all move over to the left like that because some games adjust your resolution when they run, Windows sets them up for the new resolution, and sometimes it moves them back, sometimes it cannot.  I would assume this mostly would happen with older games.

Install Desktop Restore. It saves ICON Placement.

Put your Icons whereever you want.

Rightclick

"Save Desktop"

If your icons ever go screwy.

Rightclick

"Restore Desktop"
