I upgraded my pc and gave my old cpu & mobo to my brother when he put his system together the screen wouldn't get any signal and the keyboard had no power (no led were in) also the mobo speaker won't go off when booting .We troubleshooted the psu hdd ram gpu and everything worked so i thought the motherboard died during the swap so I got a new one and it still does the exact same thing So is the cpu dead or am I overlooking something? pls help

Reseat CPU. Make sure all power is connected and switch on back is flipped

he tried everything else separately AND he got another motherboard ... last thing left is the CPU.

 

 

@SmileyBacon Not sure how you troubleshoot it, so here are my suggestions;

 

Take everything out of the case, setup the motherboard on a box

install only the CPU and cooler, 1 stick of RAM (no storage or GPU)

Try again, this will eliminate the case as a possible problem (power switch problem, short, squeezed connector, etc..)

If you have the same problem using both motherboard then yeah, most likely the CPU is dead.
