Lag when browsing. New CPU?

Hello,

 

These are my PC specs:

- Intel Core i5-3470 3.20 GHz

- Asus P8H77V LE  Mobo

- Kingston khx1600c9d3k2/8gx   2x4GB RAM

- Asus Strix GTX 1070

- Some Thermaltake 700W PSU

- 500GB HDD + 250GB SSD setup

 

Noob Question:

I am experiencing lag when browsing the internet. I tried using both Chrome and Firefox, but it's really slow and laggy most of the time.

Now, it's not that bad BUT i would like to somehow upgrade my system so that i have a more pleasant experience.

I'm thinking of getting a new CPU but im not sure if that's the right move. Maybe i just need faster RAM.

What are your opinions guys? How can i get rid of browser lag? (Btw i am not using up all the RAM. Checked task manager multiple times. And i'm also not referring to slow internet lag)

Open up task manager while you are browsing and send us a screenshot of it... Then I can give you advice as to what to do... I think you should just reinstall windows and you will no longer have that issue...

The i5 is still a decent CPU so you may want to add another 8Gb of Ram to your system...

Do that, but I'm going to guess it's ram. Also, make sure to take the screenshot in the 'Performance' tab. If you don't know how to screenshot, or don't have software for it, search for 'Snipping Tool' and use that.

Nonetheless a 3770K isn't too expensive and I think it fits in the same socket... (If you really wish to upgrade)

Well first off, check your DNS settings... just using your ISP DNS can be way more laggy than using a public DNS like google/openDNS.

plus when it is laggy i still use only about 4gb of RAM. Dunno about cpu. (will check again when i lag)
