So I've got a summer job and figured that I will have ~2000 dollars at the end. I desperatly need a new gaming machine and im willing to spend all of the money. I am not that good with computer building, but I thought about something like this:

I need only a computer, I live in Europe and do need Windows

Core I7 - 6700k - would like to try some overclocking

Cooler (?)

A GTX 1080 - which 1080 is the best? Im gaming on 1440p (planning on 4k)

Asus z170 - deluxe again I dont know if this is a good choice for the price

RAM 16 gb (?)

PSU (?)

Storage (?) I would like a m.2 ssd for fast booting but not necessary

I hope you guys can help me with making the right choices. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for all the replies! Since it seems that I dont need 2000 dollars for my pc, what are your recommendations on a mouse and keyboard (preferably blue switches)? I was also looking at the ATH AD 700x, but it is sadly not available here. Any suggestions?

Lets first start with the generic cliche question xD Will you only be gaming on it, or are you planning to do CP intensive load like video editing? If you are only gaming, perhaps go for the 6600k.

Unless you need some specific feature that the Z170 Deluxe provides, you don't need an overly expensive motherboard. The much cheaper ASUS Z170-A should suffice.

As for GTX 1080s, probably the EVGA FTW if it's even available...

RAM is enough. As for PSU, I suggest the EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2. 650 if you're planning to SLI in the future.

Ideally, you should go for a 1TB HDD for mass storage. You could get a 250-500GB SSD, such as the Samsung 850 EVO for your primary applications/games and for your OS. On a daily basis, you won't notice the difference between M.2 SSD such as the 950 PRO and the 850 EVO.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

Note that the price of the FTW 1080 isnt known at the moment. I just give it $720 since it's the price of the most expensive air cooled 1080 now (the MSI Gaming X)

-get an i5 6600k instead

-cooler wise, check cryorig or phanteks air coolers, since you're overclocking, take a look at some all in one watercoolers.

-stick with 1440p, 4k is not worth it. I'd say go for EVGA GTX 1080.

-too expensive of a motherboard.

-get corsair 2x8gb 2400mhz sticks

-EVGA G2 650W/750W is more than enough

-take a look at one of samsung's m.2 if you want one, if not, then a 850 EVO 250gb/500gb should do.

gonna build you one now, hang on

If you want a beast for the price, you can of course fit in a 6700K in there with $2000 budget.

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($345.89 @ OutletPC)

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Founders Edition Video Card  ($699.99 @ SuperBiiz) (Accidentially chose the Founders Edition, but  wanted to put in the same card as @Megazero)
Case: NZXT H440 (White/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($118.99 @ SuperBiiz)

I went with a white and black theme, but build that @Megazero posted is just as good, but with a black theme :) Depends on your preference. YOu have about 300-250 dollars left that you can spend on whatever you want, keyboard, monitor, gaming mouse etc.

I forgot to mention, but for both my build and this build, you will want to grab a pair of Noctua 120mm fans for the AIO cooler, as the H100i have really loud stock fan. Speaking as the owner of the H100i here

6600k is the same price as a 6700 (if you factor in cooler and mobo) and performs the same in gaming.

also the i7 is better for editing. as said key from kenguin. this would be reasonable for 1440p

you still have 800$ left which you can invest in a monitor, audio, peripherals, htc rift or just save.

peripherals are quite personal but for the keyboard i would just search for the cheapest with cherry mx blue. for the mouse im personally a fan of the razer deathadder but the logitech g502 is quite good too.

if you want something really comfortable go for the beyerdynamic custom one pro (i have some i can sleep in them), but if you want something that you can take outside i would go with the m50x. you can combide both with a modmic 4.0.
