Look locally, I'd say.

A case is one of the few things you don't really have to worry about finding used, and sometimes you can pick up really decent cases for pretty cheap- or even free.

This is an option, too.

 

You can pick up pallets for free, and get a sheet of plexi for $5. With a few tools, it's entirely possible to make your own custom case. A cool project to be sure.
