i was wondering if there will be a new source engine because when hl 1 and tf was out they used goldsrc and in half life 2 tf2 ect.. they use source

will they release a new engine with half  life 3?

Of course they will, Gabe even confirmed it in some of his letters and interviews. Why would valve ship a new game with an almost 10 year old engine.

Indeed it does, but it's at its limits right know, if Valve wants to make HL3 more immerse then ever, then they would have to ship out a new engine that breaks the current engines limits.

The car guy in me wanted to say something about when you reach the limits of your engine you just add boost and spray till it explodes but Valve is smarter than that so I won't say the thing that I was gonna say aside from the explanation that explains what it was that I was going to say and why I won't say it.

Most likely, the current engine is heavily outdated and doesnt support a ton of modern features that gpu these days output

I really hope they raise the entity limit in source 2. Currently it's only 1024 :(
