How good is the GTX1080 over the GTX1070?

RRGT19

Hi,

I want to know how good it is because it cost $699.99 on Amazon and the GTX1070 is at $449.99.

A mean, using a 1440p monitor, will I see much more FPS compared to the GTX1070?.

I just want to be sure that the GTX1080 is my best option.

Yes, you will definitely see some more FPS, however GTX 1070 is great for 1440p as well. 1080 is more focused on stable 60 fps 4K experience. It depends on your budget, if you can get the 1080, then go for it, but if you'd rather save that money for something else, 1070 is a great choice as well.

I fought with this as well, but ultimately went for the 1070. I am not going to be taking the 4k jump just yet. Most seem to think 1070 is a sweet spot for 1440p gaming.

Go on Youtube , watch like 3 reviews or 30 (your choice) and decide if extra fps is worth the $200 depending on how often u can afford new GPU and if u stay on 1440p 60hz or get a 144Hz or even 4K soon.

I had the same conundrum as you. Running a 144hz 1440p panel and I went with the 1070 as it ain't worth the extra $ imo. When it arrives I'll see if my thinking was right lol.

GTX 1070 can max out any game at 1440p at 60fps.

But if you have G-sync monitor, you might want to get GTX 1080.

GTX 1080 will give you more fps, but if you want to have just 60 fps, you are fine with GTX 1070.

But if you can spend those 250$ more, you can still buy GTX 1080, and have a little future proof.

I think the 1070 will be a better pick over the 1080 just like the 970 was over the 980...price to performance wise. Leaving the 1080ti as most likely the better choice over the 1080 because the hard OC that the 1080 has.

If memory serve me correctly, you had a 980 Ti before your temperature debacle.  With that said, if I were you, I'd get the GTX 1080.
