dont fall for the trap that is ergonomic chairs, that's all useful i have to say.

maybe look towards the bucketseat style chairs, you may be able to find one around your pricepoint.

I'm thankful that the only IKEA in the entire country is about 400km away and the shipping isn't what I'd call cheap (it's cheap, but it's extra money I  don't want to spend).

Last time I ordered from them I spent three paychecks in less than an hour o.O

I'm 240-ish pounds. If it can hold me, it'll hold you.

Base is metallic, backrest frame is metallic, elbow supports are quite sturdy (metal core encased in fairly hard plastic)

Never cheap out on a chair... I spent £250 on my current Vertagear SL5000 and it's so much more supportive and sustains long gaming sessions very well.

Don't compromise your health just because of a few extra hundred bucks that you can save next month.

You can't put a price on your health mate.

I understand people have different budgets though, so sometimes it isn't as easy to obtain something like this.

Cheap chairs tend to be more wobbly and unstable when compared to real office work chairs for example - that's the main reason why I never cheap out on a chair. Even though the DXracers for example cost only around 300'ish USD, they are way more wobbly than what I accept from a chair I spend time on.

I'm very happy with my ergonomic work chair, though I don't know if you were talking about these kind of ergonomics or those weird looking ergonomic chairs.

I got it cheaper from work, if I remember correctly it was around 400 - 500€. It seems to retail for £950.00 in amazon - without the headrest though.

But for real I can sit in this, swing myself around and spin, and the chair is stable as hell.

EDIT: It also has some premium ergonomics, such as height adjustable back, the spring's force can be adjusted and there is an inflatable "balloon" inside the back at the lumbar section.

Then I see you have never tried a real premium chair. Any ikea chair I have ever tried look good, but feels like they are made fully from waste plastic.

that odd looking disaster i liked before is a "premium chair"

the issue is, if premium means €600 and up, and non-premium means a slight loss in build quality, but a rise in comfort for €300.. my choice is quickly made.

I bought this chair yesterday from canadian tires for $129. http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/for-living-leather-executive-office-chair-black-0680923p.html#srp

very easy to assemble. I've been sitting on it for few hours now and is very comfortable and nice although arm rest on the right side seem like if I put too much pressure on it is gonna break but the left side is perfectly fine, hopefully this chair will last me for a year or 2 till i need to upgrade again.

I know your problem givingtnt. I had the same a few years ago - I needed good and cheap chair. And to be honest there is no something like that. I've tested many many chairs and need to say that good chairs are above $500. For example Herman Miller Aeron but this chair costs even over $900 so I think it's definitely over your budet. But I had a lot of neck and back pains because of many hours on my chair (too many work :/). If you don't need specialied chair and just something good I'd recommend Alera chairs. Their products are quite cheap and good as well. I even made a ranking of cheap chairs on my blog. If you want take a look: http://www.workwithpleasure.com/66/my-personal-top-5-ranking-of-best-cheap-chairs/:)

the thing is, the 50$ chair we got is more than fine, its comfy and all, works great.

its just SUPER cheap and all plastic.

it only goes up or down and rocks, but its really well fitted for me. just cheap.

Yep but maybe it's comfy for you because you didn't use even better chairs? :) If you have budget $150 you can easily find the better one (like I said before check Alera). Or just buy the same you've got now but as you see chairs for $50 are not for long.
