How to connect Rx 480 to display?

1crazyEye

Building my first PC, got it all up and running before putting in the Rx 480. Now my monitor doesn't receive a signal. I'm pretty sure by inserting the graphics card it disabled the on board graphics so my question is how am I supposed to connect the Rx 480? Sorry if it's super simple, idk.

Have you connected your monitor to the graphics card and not the motherboard?

Make sure the RX 480 is fully connected to your motherboard's PCIe slot, make sure the PCIe power connector is connected to the card, and make sure th HDMI/DP/DVI cable is connected to the graphics card and your monitor correctly.

At the back of your 480 there should be all the ports for you to plug in the cable to connect your monitor...

If your monitor uses VGA or DVI for the display connection, then you will need to purchase an adapter. The RX 480 Reference model doesn't have a DVI or VGA out.

VGA:

DVI:

DVI-D to HDMI: https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-Gold-Plated-Female-Adapter-Converter/dp/B00ZMVGTA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467517416&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=DVI-I+to+HDMI&psc=1
