LVDS to HDMI

Hey everyone, 

 

I have a laptop that is about 1.5 years old that was my sisters that has a broken screen. I cannot get the external hdmi to work (I suspect it's broken and I can tell it boots because it makes Windows loading noises) and would like to eventually just mount the motherboard in some sort of case and use it as a desktop. I would like to know if there is a way to convert the LVDS output on the motherboard and have that signal converted to hdmi? 

 

Does anyone have any experience with this?

wait do you get the windows boot music? so you can tell its making it to the login screen? what laptop model is it?

Yes I got the windows boot music so I know it is getting to the login screen. It is a 15 inch hp envy laptop  and I am unsure of the exact model number.

I am also able to login and then try and use the function key to mirror displays which doesn't work. I also get a disconnected cable message from my monitor that I am using which is also why I think the hdmi is bad on the board.

so you have also tried: FN+  ?

Yes I have tried that.

then id probs look at a replacement screen on ebay or amazon (usually under $40), if you can identify the exact model of your device.
