Graphics card screw

Go to solution Solved by DXMember,

it's a case screw

When I attach a graphics card to the motherboard, the card need to be screwed into the side panel of the case in order for the card to stay in place. Does this screw come with the motherboard, case, or GPU? Or any random screw will work?

In case you want to know graphics card is Galax GTX 1070 EXOC.

Side panel?   Don't you mean the rear?

1)The slots in the back should be covered by little shields. These slot covers are held in place by little screws when you remove these slot covers to enable the card IO to stick out the back of the case the little screw should be retained to enable the card to be screwed in place.

2) The slot covers may be half stamped out, in that case you have to bend out the cover(s) and use one of the SUPPLIED WITH THE CASE screws for just this purpose (quite often there will be a note as to what screws are for what in the instructions, If second hand find a screw that looks to have the same head as those allready there with a 6/32 thread and use that .

Perhaps onlly applicable to really cheap pre-built unit

3)Sometimes the slot covers  are held in place by a cover, not individual screws, and in that case you would need to take of the cover cover insert the card then replace the cover cover.

Two motoes to live by   "Sometimes there are no shortcuts"

                                           "This too shall pass"
