APUs have an integrated graphics processor,  but they're not powerful. You'd be better off with an i3 and a Gtx 950.

Is the Athlon a APU though?

No, the a10 7850k or 7870k are the apu equivalents to the Athlons. I can't recommend apus for gaming though. They bundle weak cpus with anemic gpus

My rig:

If you're just going to do light gaming, an APU will suit you fine. Just make sure you get a high-end A10 or it won't perform well. However, if you can stretch your budget, definitely go for an i3 and GTX 950 - it'll be a lot better. If you can't, though, an APU will manage light games perfectly fine.

N.B. Athlon is not an APU, you need to get an A-series (A10 preferably).
