For some reason i am unable to install Windows 7 updates, when i start it up it just stays at 0% now matter how long i keep it running, been trying to google my way through the problem, but i have not been able to find anything that resolves the problem. Thought maybe a smart person in here could somehow help? :(

Check the clock settings in Windows. Sometimes if your time zone or time sync is off the update service will reject updating your machine.

Just an idea.

The clock is set the right time and zone, but thanks :( Starting to think its just another way to push people towards Windows 10, make everything else crap.

Sad thing is that I'm pretty sure June 29 was the last day for the upgrade.

Might be an issue associated with a specific update, that screws up future updates I had a similar issue but it will take me a second to look up the fix again

It's july 29th, and I feel like microsoft did this on purpose

Okay thanks, i found 2 things people said worked for them, one was disabling all non windows services and trying to update, doesnt seem to work here, now its just searching for updates forever.

Other people suggested stopping the Windows Update service and empty out the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, means you have to install all windows 7 updates again apparently, but i guess its worth a try.

Yeah but that is why I ran into my issue in the first place (I reinstalled not deleted updates but same end result), there is an update that is required to run certain updates but it seems to not pop up if you disable the windows 10 pop up updates, making it so you may have to manually install it but I'm having trouble finding it's number again

Might have fixed it myself, sort of atleast, i downloaded a program called "WSUS Offline Update" and pretty much just used that to download and update the needed ones, it seems to just scan for what needs to be updated, then downloads them and installs them. Ran WSUS, rebooted when it was done and fired up Windows Update again, ran the scan for new updates, which this time just took at minute and there are no new updates needed.

Cool, I'll look into that program if I encounter the same issue again, hopefully everything works now :)

It seems like a nice little tool, looks like it downloads all the needed updates and makes an image, which means you just have to download the updates once, if you need to update another windows 7 machine or need to format, you just store the WSUS update image on another disk and install from that, no need to download updates over and over.

There were only 1 update left when i was done with WSUS, one of those "removal of harmful software" updates, that downloaded right away and installed without issues.

So crossing my fingers that might have done the trick.
