Hi,

 

So i got my AiO Liquid Cooler (CoolerMaster Nepton 240m) running in my other rig now.. weird thing is.. it doesnt work on CPU_FAN1 Port..

 

I pluged it in, and almost died of anger when i saw the LED going off, and my temps increasing every second by 1-2°C.. - i tried everything.. (the port surely works, my tower cooler was there just 20 mins ago..)

 

I thought i ripped my AiO.. and wanted to sent it back.. when i was like - lets just try one more thing. I plugged my AiO in one of the Chasis FAN Ports.. and it worked! o.O

 

Don't want to complain... but still weird.. 

 

Can someone explain this to me?

 

Info: When plugged in CPU_FAN1 the LED went on after Post (or when i entered BIOS) the LED turned black and my Temps increased.. when i shut down my PC - the LED turned on and of again, really quickly. And this everytime!

 

If this is important my Mainboard is the ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming K4.. (i already checked my CPU-FAN1 Port.. it works with the tower cooler just fine..) - could it be that the pump does not get enough power?

If the fan header is set to variable speed then yes if the pump gets power from the header and the header isn't putting out full power the pump may not spin.

how can i change that? I used my AiO on this Mainboard a couple months ago.. and there it worked without any Problems.

Well usually AIO liquid coolers get power from a Molex or SATA power cable strait from the PSU. The 3-pin connector is just used to monitor the pumps RPM in the case it fails. Really it shouldn't be required. In your case it's different. Your 4-pin connector is RPM monitoring AND pump power but this is why AIO designers opt to use a PSU connector strait from the PSU or else issues like this can happen. What you have to do is go into the BIOS, find the fan controller menu, chose the CPU_FAN1 header and put it at 100% essentially 12V. This SHOULD fix the issue.

well.. i searched for that setting but haven't found so far.. gonna have a look at it tomorrow.. weird that it works on a Chasis Port then.. mh. (btw. its a 4 pin connector, but there are only 3 pins really "attached" ... sorry, english is not my nativ language - hope you understand what i mean).

The CPU fan header is special dependent on motherboard vendor. They will auto-set it to be variable speed but leave the rest of the headers on 100%. Don't worry about your English, you speak it more fluently (better) than I can speak any other language.
