Apparently I'm one of the people GTA V doesn't want to play nice for and is pegging all my CPU cores at 100% (6600k). So since A: I want to use my GTX 1080 to it's fullest in GTA V and B: I just want to satisfy my techno lust with a new shinny CPU, what Intel CPU do people normally find gives GTA V enough breathing room to not have the CPU pegged at 100% and allow the video card to run unhindered?

Thanks.

I spend too much on my PC. Then I spend even more on my Sim Rig. Damn, this stuff's expensive.

A 6600k shouldn´t have any problems with GTA VO.o But if you really want and since you already have a Z170 mobo I would say get a i7 6700k

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X PBO GPU: Asus Strix RTX 3090 OC Mobo: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3600Mhz CL17

The 6600k should be perfectly fine. Theres not point in upgrading it if your already getting 60+ fps

Needs money for car parts :P

Thanks.

For GTA V, an i5 is already quite a solid option. If that 6600k is overclocked, even better.

However, if you need MOAR POWARRRR, the next obvious choice would be the i7 6700k. Since you currently have the 6600k, I would assume that you have a 1) CPU cooler, and 2) A Z170 motherboard. The 6700k would be the only logical option from upgrading from an i5, fitting with into the same socket without needing a motherboard replacement, and the unlocked CPU will also go hand in hand with the overclocking motherboard and CPU cooler.

In my personal experience, I am running the game with a GTX 970 and an i5 4690k at stock speeds (3.50Ghz). I run close to maximum settings, but lowered just a little bit to get that optimal 75Hz that I have overclocked my monitor to. However after prolonged usage, I do experience a little bit of stuttering, which I may attribute to my limited RAM (8GB is not really that enough to run GTA V, given its demanding graphics, etc).

Ram is not a problem for me, I have 8gbs and a 970

You do have a much more powerful CPU, which may help to reduce the deficit of the RAM issue. Still, I think 16GB would be better (not a must) for running a graphically demanding game such as GTA V.

How did you overclock your monitor??? I really would like to know. Is it originally 60hz and you overclock it to 75?

Sflr. I was out in school the whole day.

My monitor's base refresh rate is 60Hz. However, most monitors can be overclocked to 65-75Hz and can still run normally. This will result in a smoother gameplay than compared to 60Hz.

You can overclock your monitor via the Nvidia control panel, Under change resolution, 1080p (or your resolution here), click customize. Then you can create a custom resolution, and up the refresh rate up to 75.

Similar to GPU and CPU overclocking, dont just set your refresh rate at 75 immediately. Try 65, 70, 75, and 80. If you push it too hard and it black screens (Not showing anything), wait 15 seconds and it should revert back to the old settings. Personally, my monitor works fine at 80, at 82 it starts showing some distortion, and at 83Hz it just blackscreens outright. I personally set it just 75 as I do not want to "Push my monitor too hard". I do not know what are the cons to monitor overclocking, therefore I do not want to keep it at 80Hz.

If you still dont know what I am talking about, you can refer to this guide:

I don't think that the CPU makes a real difference, GTA seems to hit all of them pretty hard. I've noticed that it hits my card harder on certain parts of the map than others.

With my 2500k it says that it runs 100% in task manager but only at about 75% most of the time in Afterburner.

There is something wrong there. I have an FX-8350 and a GTX 750 Ti. I run GTA V at very high and get about 50-70 FPS... :/
