95% RAM Usage often

My buddy has to go and restart his PC quite often because of this, he also mentions it happens when he goes into google chrome and the fps drops. But when he exits chrome it goes back to normal, and ideas?

Uninstall the Killer Ethernet utility (not the driver, just the utility).

It's a known issue.

 

Erh, I assumed it was your rig. Still stands if he has an MSI board or a board with Killer Ethernet

This is my rig, he doesn't have a board with killer Ethernet. Could it be a PUP in the browser?

Could be. Does it only happen in Chrome?

He has fully restarted the PC now and it seems it happens daily until he restarts then its fine for the rest of the day i assume

Are you sure? Is he using MSI Command Center by any chance?

 

Otherwise you'll have to start monitoring with Poolmon, see which tags keep increasing over time.

I can confirm he doesn't have anything to do with killer or msi

Killer is Realtek though, could be something in their drivers still. Doesn't hurt to update the network drivers to the latest version.

Yep this is the work of google chrome. Use fire-fox or internet explorer. Google chrome is known for it's ram eating ability. If you can add more ram!

Try disabling NDU (Windows Network Data Usage Monitoring);

 

in the registry;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Ndu

Modify the value "Start" to 4 (to disable it)

reboot
