TL:DR: After how many days/weeks usually non-reference models hit the market? I'm specificelly interested in Sapphire Nitro RX 480 model.

Hello. Yesterday I made a topic - https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/618223-hard-decision-to-make - where I asked for help for choosing the best gpu between R9 390 / GTX 970.

The reason why I didn't want to go with RX 480 was because it was 310 euros at the time and benchmarks showed it falls a little behind GTX 970 + only two online shops were selling them. Yesterday I decided to get a R9 390 but it was too late to order.

Today I log on the PC, check RX 480 prices again and to my shock 8GB reference model costs only 260 euros!

So that got me thinking - since R9 390 is 275 euros and Sapphire Nitro RX 480 is about to hit the market, maybe it will perform better than R9 390 as drivers mature and will have a decent OC'ing ability for about the same price as R9 390?

So do you think RX 480 will outperform R9 390 soon enough? When can I expect third-party cards to hit the market? After how much time did non-reference GTX 1070/1080 were available?

Awww man, I sold my GTX 760 two weeks ago, now I can't play anything I want. I want to get a GPU ASAP but don't want to be disappointed with my R9 390 purchase when Sapphire Nitro RX 480 arrives. :S

The 480 and 390 are pretty much on par with eachother. I would only imagine the 480 will beat it once more optimizations are completed so I'd say wait for the 480.
