RX 480 Upgrades.

So I am going to be upgrading to the new RX 480 (Of course) and I also need to upgrade my CPU. A few different ways to spend my money and I just need opinions.... My motherboard is not a over-clocker. (MSI 760gm-P34)

My three choices are....     (Prices in Canadian and not exact)

AMD 8320 and the RX 480 8GB    ($580)

AMD 8350 and the RX 480 4GB    ($560)

AMD 8320 with a 212 evo and the RX 480 4GB  ($570)

I decided to put the 212 evo in there for the future so I can overclock by buying a new motherboard and for silence while gaming. (We all know practically every stock cooler sounds like a jet engine during full load.)

I play at 1080p and when I get that new GPU I would be running at the highest possible settings while still maintaining playable frames.

Thanks :)

Ugh, why even bother spending your money on those trash AMD CPUs? Either wait it out and get Zen or completely replace your motherboard and CPU with an i3... In a gaming scenario the i3 would beat out both of those CPUs by a good 30-50%, and getting a new CPU/mobo would cost ~$70 CAD more, but it'd be worth it...

Save up a bit more. If you don't want to, whatever, it's just not the smart option.

Id get a 8320 and save up for a i5 or zen. The extra clock on a 8350 won't help much. The stock cooler isn't that loud with the new stock cooler.

I have heard my friends CPU and he has a 8320. It gets extremely loud when he plays larger titles.

I have a AMD 4300 at the moment and I just need a CPU that will not bottleneck the new GPU. I do not do any video editing and if I do its like a 2 minute video. I just need a CPU that will that bottleneck and can keep up with that GPU.

Problem is I would need to get a new Windows license. My PC is not custom and has a OEM key. Correct?

Yeahhh but it's still old. If you really have to go with that socket and not what @khothmod recommended (which would be a great choice) at least get an 8320e. They're a little cheaper. Or go used. You should be able to get a killer deal.

Not necessarily, Microsoft has really been pushing 10, so if you install it and upgrade they might not care.

My buddy has done it twice in the past few weeks, I'm going to try using a prebuilt code tomorrow on a computer I just finished building.

I thought once that key is registered to that motherboard you can not re-use the serial key on a new motherboard since it would technically be a new system?

Worked for him. One was from his old laptop, the other he got off an eBay picture.

Thats interesting..... I will have to try that another time possibly. Thanks for the info! Probably what I am going to do is get a 480 sometime this month and just save up and watch for deals for an i3. :) I guess I could sell my RAM, Mobo and CPU to help pay for it. Even though its gonna be -600 from my wallet.... Yikes!

Honestly, I'd look on Reddit. Even with the poor Canadian dollar, the deals are a lot better than you'll find up here.

If you're close to the border and can pick it up Stateside, even better.
