Hi guys. I have a Asus Maximus Hero viii and I would like to attach a temperature sensor and monitor my GPU temperature so that when the GPU reaches a certain temperature I can have some fans in my system to start. My motherboard does have some temperature sensor connectors, but I am not sure how everything works. If I attach this sensor to my motherboard, would I be able for example in AI Suite adjust a fan that is connected to the motherboard based on the temperature of this sensor?

Thanks

You don't need a temperature sensor for this, fairly sure, you could write a program (one may already exist) that reads your GPU temp and sets your PCs Fan Curve according to this, it wouldn't be to hard to write yourself, but there may already be an existing program.

 | CPU: AMD FX 8350 + H100i | GPU: AMD R9 290X + NZXT Kraken | RAM: HyperX Beast 2033 16GB | PSU: EVGA G2 | MOBO: ASRock 970M |

| CASE: Corsair Carbide 88R |STORAGE: 1x WD Black | KEYBOARD: Corsair K70 | MOUSE: R.A.T 9 |

AI Suite does this already.

Based on the GPU? I still need to buy a GPU at the moment, maybe that is why I can't see this option in the drop down menu.

There is usually a PCiE  option.

Maybe after I plug the GPU

And it MIGHT be a motherboard specific sensor, because I don't have PCH as a option (whatever that is)

Do you have an Asus mbo and using AI Suite? Do you have a GPU option?

I have a ASUS Crossblade Ranger (and I had a Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 before that).  Both of them had a option called "PCI-E" which I always thought was just the card itself, but now looking at yours I think it might have been a individual sensor on the motherboard.

I will see when I will buy a GPU probably in the next weeks. The Asus Strix 1070 resolves all this problems as it has two fan headers and case fans can be plugged straight to the GPU, allowing the GPU to control the fans.

But still, I saw that there is software like speed fan that maybe would allow me to set fan curves for specific fans based on the GPU temp.
