Hello guys, I am having a really hard time choosing a graphics card for myself.

Today I ordered a GTX 1070 but didn't receive the call from the shop which was supposed to find out all the details necessary for a successful delivery which made me realize I am not ready to drop 500 euros for a graphics card.

My goal is to game at 1080p, 60fps on high settings for at least two more years but I do understand we can't predict the hardware necessary to run games at these settings but a man can dream.

Currently I'm choosing between GTX 970 and R9 390, I don't care about nvidia's features so no need to take that into consideration. I want raw performance superiority.

After seeing RX 480 benchmarks I was not impressed and don't think it is justified to pay ~40 euros more for that card (Both G1 Gaming GTX 970 and Sapphire R9 390 are 275 euros but the cheapest reference RX 480 is 310 euros).

I heard AMD cards age better, read many discussions on this forum which said R9 390 is a better choice over GTX 970 but I checked recent comparison between these two cards and GTX 970 seemed to be winning, here are some videos:

So I ask for your help guys, help me choose.

The 390 performs better than the 970 right now. Also, no memory bottlenecks.

i had 970 and 970 sli, i had no such thing as memory bottleneck, the 390 is better still.

For game modding, you require more than 4 gigs.
