Help/advice on RX 480

Hello! I have just bought a new PC for gaming and all thats missing is the graphics card and was counting on picking the rx 480. As the NDA has lifted now and prices and benchmarks are up I am wondering if I should go for the RX 480  or GTX 970. Thanks guys I need to know soon as I fear stocks will run out.. BTW I live in Australia and this website has the cheapest prices for the rx 480 of what I found:

NDA lifts in about an hour, then a few more hours until videos/articles start popping up, probably.

We should have a clearer picture within the next 12-24 hours, I suppose

Well if you go on Amazon there are a few RX 480s being sold for outrageous prices... they probably broke it too

I'd imagine so, but there's no guarantee.

Reviewers have had their hands on the cards for a while, so everything should be ready to be made public once the NDA is lifted.

RX 480 is technically better (except for the lack of rops, 32 vs 56 rops on the 970), but I would wait for reviews first. if you are playing dx12 games I would definitely get the RX480 due to async compute. I personally am going to wait until AIB cards come out before I make my purchasing decision.

I bought a freesync monitor too..... hopefully the rx 480 is what I end up buying.

lmao, best of luck to you bro, this is said to have 25x the stock of the 1000 series. Hopefully it doesn't run out of stock before restocking comes in

Yeah I just built my PC yesterday and getting an RX 480 will complete it for a while.

appears to be a big disappointment , but get it over the gtx 970 anyways. seems to be cheaper and the 3.5gb of vram is bottlenecking quite badly in some new games.

can you further explain what you mean by this. "bottlenecking quote badly in some new games."

A lot of newer games require lots of Vram, you need 4 minimum usually and if you don't the game lags massively

 the gtx 970 is stutter city and can't play at hyper settings, but the r9 390 with 8gb of vram runs perfectly at 40-50 fps.
