What should I go for?

I know the Hof is clocked a little higher than the Amp extreme but I was wondering which of these is an all round better card when you take the software (firestorm vs what Galax has), power phases, and cooling into account. Also I think the amp extreme has a higher memory speed than anything else I've seen so how important/impactful is that?

1080, sorry should have been more specific!

the 1080 HOF isn't even out yet, is it?

Amp! Extreme:

  • 2560 Cores
  • Base: 1771 MHz
    Boost:1911 MHz
  • 8GB GDDR5X / 10.8 GHz / 256-bit

HOF:

  • CUDA Cores 2560
  • Base Clock (MHz) 1809
  • Boost Clock (MHz) 1961
  • Memory Speed 10Gbps

These are the official clock speeds for both cards,

Can anyone tell me anything about the importance of memory clock speeds on a card like the 1080? Does it actually make a difference or does it just get to a point were its not really that important? Cuz the Zotac memory is 800 MHz faster than the HOF.

It probably wouldn't make much of a difference

The HOF will still probably perform slightly better, those extra 50 mhz on the core should provide about the same, if not the same performance as the 800 mhz on the memory.  The HOF should have a tiny bit more OC headroom as well, and the memory should go just as high as the zotac, if not higher.

Where are you seeing it's available for pre-order? I can't find any info on that

Wait hold on i think i might of messed something up. I was looking at overclockers.co.uk.

They had the KFA2 HOF, with clock speeds set as TBD. But I assumed that KFA2 and Galax are exactly the same but with different names for whatever reason.

But i just checked the KFA2 website for their HOF listing and the clock speeds were a lot less than the GALAX HOF which doesnt really make sense. I'll provide all the links so you can have a look.

The one with 1961 boost is a "limited edition" one, the standard one is 1873

Oh, my bad... :/

Sorry for wasting everyone's time I guess :P

Either way, if the Amp Extreme is cheaper just get that, both will clock very similar because of how Pascal works.
