Rx 480 power consumption

Hi,

I am planning to buy a RX 480 when it comes out in a couple of days. Currently I have a gtx 660 and corsair cx600 power supply. Will I need a new power supply if I upgrade my gtx 660 to a RX 480?

The wattage is fine, the quality isn't. (It'll draw a max of 150~W under absolute max load)

We don't have exact numbers on power consumption yet , but 600w will be more than fine ( unless if behaves like broadwell and power consumption doubles with an overclock )

I have a i5 4460, MSI z97 PC mate, 8 GB ddr3 ram, 4 120 mm chassis fans in addition to the to be replaced gtx 660

Yes, you got plenty of spare watts to go around.

However, i would consider going nvidea because theres multiple benchmarks out there now showing the 480 being crap. Come on, its worse then a 970 and it costs 300 and more.

Yes I was thinking of grabbing a 970 and not defecting to the red team, but a 199 high end GPUis too enticing.

expect the sapphire 6g to go for 320 because my boss kept nagging about it all day today.

Oh you meant 300+. 6GB? Do you mean 8? Are you talking US Dollars? Why would a reference cooler have a 100$ markup?

So still cheaper than the cheapest 970 for a good card, and these benchmarks don't make sense, these match the RX 470 leaks, it should be better than a 970. It has about the same compute performance at 1266 MHz than a 390X, and I would expect an improved architecture to be more efficient.

Yeah, I'd take all the benchmarks with a grain of salt until tomorrow.

 

@theIceman I'd wait for the benchmarks to come out tomorrow. Base your decision off what you think would be best for you
