I need to upgrade my processor asap, I have an AMD FX 4100 and the very few games I own run pretty badly. My goal is to build a brand new PC but for now I think I'll just have to swap out the processor. So which AMD CPU is the best one right now?

Current specs: Gigabyte Aorus x370 Gaming K7 motherboard

Sapphire 5600XT

16 GB G-Skill TridentZ RAM

Ryzen 5 1600 CPU

EVGA 650W Gold Power Supply

If it is a temporary cpu I wouldn't go to expensive. At most a 6300

Which motherboard do you have? Which cooling solution? Which graphics card? The "best" is something around the fx 9590 or some ****.

Budget Rig "Curable":     | FX 6300 @4.5Ghz | Asus R9 270x | Asus Crosshair IV Extreme | 16GB HyperX Beast | 120GB PNY SSD

Tablet "Buddy":                 Trekstor Wintron 10.1|

I don't know how temporary it's gonna be though. So far things aren't looking good so I'm not sure when I'll be able to afford a brand new PC with all the stuff I want.

ASRock vs3 n68 motherboard. AMD R9 380 Graphics card. And cooling, I use fans.  I didn't build this computer so I don't know much. I don't know whether it has one or two so I'd have to check. So far it doesn't run too hot, but if I swap the cpu maybe it's gonna bring me problems I think

Yeah, I wanna go for Intel but so far AMD will have to do

I wouldnt upgrade. The difference from a 4300 to an 6300 isnt thaaaaaaat big. I did that change. Save ur money for an upgrade. New Motherboard + CPU combo. Something like an b85 motherboard and a 4460 would be a nice upgrade and a nice match with ur graphics card.

8320e is possible aswell. It supports up to 95 watt cpus. Just barely enough for a fx 6300 or 8320e.

I just checked the prices and they're not cheap. Where I live this kind of stuff are really expensive. I think I'll just wait and buy a brand new computer. I just pray I'll be able to afford it lol

Why brand new? You still can use ur ram + ur gpu. And mybe ur case and ur power supply. Hard drive can also be reused.

Yeah, there are a couple stuff I'll reuse, but considering the amount of money I'll be spending, I'd rather just buy a new one. Besides, the case I have is a really generic one and I've also been wanting to change it for a while.

8320E if you wanna upgrade it, best FX chip that will run on your mobo without undervolting and underclocking it, with mantle and vulkan 8320E might not be bad solution for gaming for some time, get some decent CPU cooler and OC 4 cores, and underclock other 4 for background uses, people tend to OC all 8 cores but thats waste of power and generates more heat
