Hello.

I recently did upgrades to my gaming PC. I installed a new motherboard, ram, ssd and a intel i5 6600k. I kept the gtx 970, but I was wondering if I should get the 1070. I will be playing games like GTA V, Minecraft, Garry's Mod, Watch Dogs 2 and some more intensive games. If I had the money I would buy the 1070, but is it worth me saving up for it as I am broke?

Thanks.

If your broke, then no. If you have the money, yes. Your 970 you should be able to get another 1-2years out of it with a quality gaming experience.

unless you want more vram you should be fine, if you want more of that then go for 480 when it comes out. its most likely better than 970 and it can have 8gb of vram

You're probably fine for another 2 years. If you had 700 series card then I would recommend buying a 1070.

I have been hearing nice things about that card. How much will it be? I have never had an AMD Card.

The RX 480 will be ~ $230 for the 8GB version reference design, expected the custom version to be around $250 or more. BUT dont decided yet. The NDA end in 2 days and we will know how it perform then

Will that beat a GTX 980?

Rumored to be as fast as a GTX 980 or slightly faster. 2 of them are as fast as a GTX 1080 if that helps......

Back in Nvidia event they also show that 1 1080 is 2x the Titan X. Dont trust press material. Wait for 3rd party review.

And... do we know any of the actual setting of that so call "Doom benchmark"? it could have Shadow turn off, no AA, run on 3 RX 480 on the background for all we know.

The RX 480 is looking to be a side grade on a 390. So the same performance as a 970.

https://www.twitch.tv/sapphirepr/v/74687671

Its also 239.99 for the reference 8g, check the online retailers.

So OP, ether get the 1070 or wait until fall and see what Vega from AMD is like.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
