so i just purchased Nero 2016. i seldom buy programs, usually opting to try to get by with what i can download for free. but i got a smoking deal on this, and i figured it would just make my life easier. upon opening and installing it this morning, i discovered that it has a product code (serial number) much like microsoft windows does. my question is, does this lock this program to this computer? if it is at all possible, i would like to use it in my laptop as well as my desktop. but the sale is over with now, so if i have to purchase another program, i will have to wait until it goes on sale again (if it does).

isn't that thing for like burning CDs and stuff?

and no it doesn't lock to hardware, you can activate it on your laptop later, as long as you uninstall it first

Nero does NOT lock a serial number to a single system.

I've run various flavours and ages of Nero (from Nero 6 through 9, then 2011 through 2016) and never once have I had problems using the serial key on more than 1 system. I've even had Nero 2016 on two of my rigs (main and a secondary) at the same time and it's never whined about being on more than 1 system.

thanks, that is what i was hoping. i do not believe that it is right to share software with all of your buddies and relatives, but you should be able to use it on everything you own.

hhaahah xD.. there are free programs that do the job better than nero xD

i am sure there are.  i just need something that is plug and play.  i have downloaded enough programs that i have to uninstall because i can not figure out how to use them.

yep, that is what it is for. and yes, i AM from the past. probably old enough to be a grandfather to most of the users here.
