Question about HDD repair

Ok so someone I know dropped a portable HDD and so I sent it off to securedatarecovery.com. The bill is almost $2000, so I am going to see with them if they think it is worth it to get the data even at that price, or if they want me to attempt it. My question is, if I find a way to make a dust-free enviroment do you think I could attempt a platter swap or does it not work that way

it CAN

doesnt mean it will be successful

up to you if you think its worth the risk and the data isnt very important

Really its up to them because the cost of the repair could get them a Razer Blade

They should use Dollar Shave club... 1 dollar is much less than 2000

a razer blade doesnt come with your lost data

 

the point of a HDD recovery is to get the data back, not get the HDD back

so that depends if your data is worth $2000 to them
