I have been given a piece of homework that has asked me to build a PC for a graphic designer and I have to justify each part.

There is no budget but please don't go silly.

What would you use?

I need a list of all of the components and also the monitor/s, keyboard, mouse ect.

Thank you

Well graphics designers generally use programs like Photoshop, these programs are usually multi-threaded as well as RAM and storage intensive. Photoshop can also take advantage of CUDA and OpenCL acceleration, so you would probably want a good graphics card that can help with that.

Really, what you want to be looking at is the monitor. I would recommend this: http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/PA248Q/. But otherwise, it's what @simtransporter said.

A nice quad-core at the bare minimum, 16GB of ram standard, 32GB if you're doing something real intense. A decent gamer grade card will do, but if you have the budget, quadro card for sure. Though, it also depends on what type of graphics. If you do 2D stuff like Photoshop ect, you'll be fine with a typical gamer grade card. It's only when you're doing pro level 3D rendering that you should invest in a pro card. the mouse and keyboard are personal. For display, an IPS monitor is what you'd want.

Any specific parts? what spec mobo? What specific gpu? any specific cpu? Thanks.

What programs are you using? Type of content you're working on?

Rough budget? Currency? Location? Where are you shopping?

Need a copy of Windows? Peripherals or just the tower?

A as stated in the first post i am designing a build for a graphic designer who will be using software such as Photoshop and illustrator. There is no budget but please dont go crazy. They will need peripherals  and a copy of windows. Any parts lists would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Other: WACOM Intuos 4 Professional Pen Tablet ($700.99)

This^. Also as others have said, monitors, you need good color balance, high resolution and a decent size (probably at least 27 inches).

We still don't know where you're located or where you're shopping from so we don't know what parts are available and what they're priced at.

What kind of content is being created?

Unless the projects being worked on contain a butt ton of layers, the cpu is overkill.

A decent oc'ed 4670k would be plenty already. Spending less now and saving money for upgrades would be better and cheaper in the long run.

Also, there's little point in getting a workstation card for photowork. They're more oriented for 3d rendering and such. The horsepower from a 7970 would be more suited for that.

At least now I know you can shop from UK merchants--couldn't mentioned this when I asked you.

Anyway, my recommendation: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1KTBc

H80i rear exhaust. Replace it's stock fan with NF-F12.

Remove all stock case fans. NF-S12A rear exhaust and 2 Akasa's front intake.
