Computer isn't starting/Image isn't showing

Go to solution Solved by luisg411,

Tried that but nothing changed. At this point I'm just gonna take it to a repair shop and see what they say. Thanks everyone for trying to help me :) .

I honestly don't know what's going on... I'm really sorry about not having all that much info but at this point I don't know where else to turn. My computer was fine until I shut it off to switch the graphics cards (this is the first time I've actually done this on a build).

After I put in the new Graphics Card an EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0, the computer just wouldn't turn on. I then tried redoing all of my cables, to make sure that I hadn't disconnected anything by accident, and still had no luck. Finally I removed the GTX 970, tried integrated graphics, and then tried the 550ti again, and it didn't work. Below I've listed my build.

Processor: Intel i7-2600K

CPU Cooling: It's a cooler master, I believe a Hyper 212

Motherboard: ASUS Z77-A

PSU: Corsair AX850

RAM: GSkill 32GB (4x8GB) 1600Mhz DDR3

HDD: Dell (WD) 1TB HDD 7200 RPM

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX550Ti (want to change it to an EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0

I'll be posting a video here as soon as it uploads which shows what the problem is. However I'll also do my best to clarify anything that needs to be clarified. I don't know the exact bios that it's running, and unfortunately can't look that up as it won't show a screen.

Basically when I turn the PC on it'll quickly turn on its fans, then seems to shut off, before restarting on its own with all the fans spinning and everything (this includes the GPU fan(s)). However, when I plug in an HDMI cable it doesn't show any image and the monitor (which I had been using today), says that there's no signal. I've also changed HDMI cables several times, including to ones I knew were working as I had them working on other things (TVs and another PC).

If anyone has any ideas, please help...

Try updating the BIOS.

How do I do that without being able to see anything even with integrated graphics?

I tried using an HDMI cable directly w/ the Motherboard, but it didn't show anything either.

I tried the old GPU and it also didn't work, which is what has me scratching my head. It was working about 15 minutes before I tried it again. I'm currently retrying, to see if I can get something from it, but so far no luck.

I've also switched out the PSU with another, and it got the exact same results. That was a Corsair RM750x.

Try the cards in a different PCI-E slot.

Still getting the same result. I've tried both cards on another PCI-E slot.

I also don't get why it shuts down when I first turn it on, and then restarts.

Clear the CMOS of your board. Here are the instructions of how to clear your CMOS off ASUS's manual the Z77-A.
